Introduction:
Republic Day is the day on which the Republic of India commemorates and celebrates the anniversary on which the Indian Constitution went into effect on January 26, 1950. This superseded the Government of India Act 1935 as India's governing document, transforming the country from a dominion to a republic independent of the British Raj.
